Let's try this again. Hopefully the weather will be kind and the wildflowers out in bloom. Pack the family, a picnic lunch and walking shoes and come exploring around Jarrahdale. Note: As we will be walking in the Serpentine National Park, please leave your pets at home.

Augustus de Luc (Gus Luck) explored extensively through the Goldfields and surrounding areas during the gold rushes of the 1880s and 1890s. He spent time gold prospecting, sandalwood cutting and transporting goods throughout the area.

When gold was discovered at Goongarrie (then called the 90 mile as that was the distance from Coolgardie) Gus took it on himself to establish a track between Southern Cross and Goongarrie to cart supplies to the new mining area. This became known as the “Gus Luck Track”. Camels and wagons of Gus’s time have been replaced by comfortable, air-conditioned 4X4 vehicles of today.

So, lets pack our comfortable, air-conditioned Subarus and go and explore Gus’s Track through the Great Western Woodlands from Southern Cross to Goongarrie which is on the Goldfields Hwy, 90km north of Kalgoorlie. Along the way we will check out lonely graves, wells and waterholes. We will also explore Goongarrie National Park, Menzies, Lake Ballard and other assorted places.

It’s that time of the year already. The evening we get together to enjoy the company of our fellow Club members and celebrate our achievements over the preceding Club year i.e. from 1/10/2023 – 30/9/2024.

The 2024 Subaru Club of WA Christmas function is being held at Kent Street Weir Park, Kent Street, Wilson on Saturday 30th November 2024. Come and join us for a relaxing reflection on the year and share some ideas for trips in 2025.  You may even like to bring your kayak along for a leisurely paddle!
